Trainings & Workshops

I offer a dynamic range of events and workshops grounded in both lived experience and professional expertise — bridging themes of health, patient advocacy, grief, aging, and LGBTQ+ identity.

Past speaking engagements include the United Nations, International Federation on Ageing, SAGE, HelpAge International, the International Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans and Intersex Association (ILGA), and other global and community-based forums.

Popular topics covered in speaking engagements include, but are not limited to:

Navigating the End: A Practical Guide

A community education workshop demystifying the logistical and legal dimensions of end-of-life planning. This session covers living wills, advance care directives, and medical shared decision-making — breaking down complex paperwork and processes into clear, actionable guidance.

Self Advocacy in Healthcare

Navigating the healthcare system is hard — especially when you are sick, scared, or grieving. This workshop equips participants with the tools and language to advocate for themselves and their loved ones within medical settings. Topics include understanding your rights as a patient, how to prepare for and lead difficult conversations with your care team, how to ask the right questions, and how to ensure your values and preferences are heard and respected.

Legacy & Preservation: Best Practices in Oral History and Memory Work

A workshop for practitioners, archivists, and community organizations on the ethics and craft of legacy and oral history work. Topics include best practices in interviewing, confidentiality and informed consent, archival standards, and how to conduct oral history work with sensitivity and integrity.
